As a chiropractor I am trained in detecting and correcting vertebral misalignments called subluxation. A subluxation is to a chiropractor as a cavity is to a dentist. It includes falls as a result of water, ice or snow, as well as abrupt changes in flooring, poor lighting or a hidden hazard, such as a gap or hard to see hole in the ground. This type of fall can cause permanent damage to your neck and back if left untreated.

Auto Accidents

A motor vehicle accident, no matter how slight you may think it is, will accelerate the degenerative (breaking down) process in your neck and back. Studies indicate that even a crash at 5 mph may cause permanent injury to your neck and back if left untreated. It is important to have your neck and back examined in order to correct this condition before it progresses to the next level.

Pregnancy Pain

During pregnancy the following changes could result in a misaligned spine or joint:

Protruding abdomen and increased back curve
Pelvic changes
Postural adaptations

Establishing pelvic balance and alignment is another reason to obtain chiropractic care during pregnancy. When the pelvis is misaligned it may reduce the amount of room available for the developing baby. This restriction is called intrauterine constraint. A misaligned pelvis may also make it difficult for the baby to get into the best possible position for delivery.
